What Does The Arc of Midland Mean to Me?

Melina B is an employee at The Arc of Midland. She makes the office much more fun, and we love seeing her each day. Melina is authoring the blog, and “spilling the tea” about all sorts of things while sharing her perspective! Follow along as Melina posts each Monday for “Mondays with Melina.”

This week, Melina shares what The Arc means to her. From family ties to new friendships, she talks about the heart behind the organization and why inclusion matters so much. Her story reminds us that everyone deserves to feel welcome, included, and valued—because having a disability doesn’t change how much someone has to offer.

Without further ado…

The Arc means a lot to me because my mom is the executive director! We have about 8 staff members that work and I have made friendships with them. My mom started here because of me, more than 20 years ago. I like The Arc we are inclusive. We want people to be inclusive of our fun events here. My mom fights for my rights every single day. She wants me to live the best life. Not everyone is not lucky like me. We serve people with Developmental disabilities from birth- to death. I love people at The Arc because they are incredible for all they do. To make people live their best life! I always believe in helping people. The kindness you put in the world comes back to you. I love our office, it used to be downtown then we moved by Kroger. At The Arc of Midland we have so many fun events we host. We want everybody to be involved and join. NObody should be felt left out, that's not what we do, we engage people to get out in the community and have a blast! And have fun. Also the Arc means to me because we help people with Disabilities because having a disability doesn't make them any less intelligent, it's a different ability we all Learn differently people shouldn't assume really try asking is very sad extremely rude to ask someone's disability. Because it could really hurt their feelings also because it is very sad!
