How I Became Over My Fears

Melina B is an employee at The Arc of Midland. She makes the office much more fun, and we love seeing her each day. Melina is authoring the blog, and “spilling the tea” about all sorts of things while sharing her perspective! Follow along as Melina posts each Monday for “Mondays with Melina.”

This week, Melina is talking about something many of us can relate to - facing our fears. Whether it is being afraid of something new, something from the past, or just something that gives you the creeps, fear is part of life. At The Arc, support people through every part of life, even the hard things. Melina reminds us that with time, support, and a little courage, we can overcome a lot… even if there are a few fears that stick with us.

Without further ado…

Hi, I would like to talk about overcoming my fears. I used to be afraid of hospitals, including IVs. I did become over that fear and worked at the hospital for 10 years. I was very afraid of watching The Fault in our Stars because it was about cancer patient but then I worked at the cancer center. I am very proud of myself when I overcome my fears. I'm still working on overcoming bees and bats. I had 12 bats in my house. I might overcome that fear. I want to feed a bat. I am still afraid of bees.

Thank you !
