Know the Issues
2nd Tuesday of Every Month in 2009

Each month there will be a specific topic addressed, with experts and researched information shared. There will also be time each month for general discussion about public policy issues related to people with developmental disabilities.
Topics that the group will focus on in 2009:
- Trends in the delivery of services from Community Mental Health to people with developmental disabilities
- HUD Section 8 housing
- Department of Human Services - Home help, Food Stamps, other assistance
- Employment for people with developmental disabilities
- Where is Community Mental Health and the mental health system in general going with regard to youth
- Public Education
Goals for the Group are:
- Group members will be educated on various public policy issues
- Relationships will be strengthened among members of the group
- People will get good ideas from each other
- People can offer support, strength and hope to each other
- People can meet and ask questions of various policy makers and implementers
Anyone who is interested in the topics and can share the goals of the group is welcome!
